We offer over six hours per week dedicated to professional development!
BITES: Our clinic is currently the only clinic in the state of Alaska with state-of-the-art BITE (Bug In The Ear) equipment in every office. Clients who agree to live supervision at our clinic allow our Clinical Supervisor to conduct live supervision though an earpiece while watching the client session in real time. The ability to get immediate support in a live situation accelerates the professional development of our therapists.
LIVES: An additional opportunity to learn occurs every week during our 2-hour group supervision. Each of our therapists rotate being in the learner's chair with an actual couple. During this learning experience both the Clinical Supervisor and Clinical Director collaboration with the learning therapist to use the interventions of Emotionally Focused Couples and Family Therapy while explaining why that intervention is being used. This ability to work collaboratively accelerates the learners grasp of EFT.
INDIVIDUAL SUPERVISION: Regular weekly supervision can both count towards:
1. Full Licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Psychologist, Licensed Psychological Associate, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker. This free supervision towards licensure is a benefit that is only offered to employees at AKMFT.
2. ICEEFT Certification as an Emotionally Focused Couples, Individual and Family Therapist.
3. Somatic Experiencing Certification. This additional free benefit allows SE students to receive both the Approved Provider Sessions as well as the Approved Consultant hours.
Even after a therapist is fully licensed and certified we offer support for regular supervision to help us continue to always improve our work.
GROUP SUPERVISION: Regular weekly group supervision that can also count towards full licensure. We meet as a group weekly for two hours to collaborate on shared clinical cases as well as group case consultations. This rich learning environment is where we can become the best clinical team we can be.
OTHER BENEFITS:
Paid Time Off: Our clinic prides itself on giving as much as we can to all our employees. We offer six paid holidays a year and three weeks paid vacation that starts to accrue the first day of employment and can be taken once an employee has completed the necessary steps to advancing off probation and moving up the BOSS (Behavior Observation Salery Scale). All employees have the potential of reaching the highest level of the BOSS and becoming a company shareholder.
Camaraderie: AKMFT hires supportive and team-oriented employees. We actually like each other so much we connect for lunches, open session times, and even our regular game nights. We have each other's back when it comes to connection and practicing the model of increasing secure attachment even with each other.
Student Placements: AKMFT is currently in the process of becoming APPIC (Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers) approved and we interview for 2 doctoral students each year.
AKMFT also has student openings for both Master level and Bachelor level Practicum and Internship positions.
